Steve Wariner Inducted Into Music City Walk Of Fame By Garth Brooks
Apr 27, 2008
Garth Brooks surprised Steve today by inducting him into the Music City Walk of Fame. Unbeknownst to Steve, Garth flew into Nashville and surprised his good friend at the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum, just minutes before the induction ceremony which took place in Hall of Fame Park. Speaking of his friend, Garth said, "Steve Wariner is going to go down in the history books of not just country music, but all music," and also commented on Steve's humility and how he'd be the last person to talk about his accomplishments. He then presented Steve with his official Music City Walk of Fame plaque and helped unveil Steve's star on the Walk of Fame. Other luminaries inducted today include Kirk Whalum, inducted by prdoucer Steve Buckingham; Steven Curtis Chapman, inducted by Dallas Holm; Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, inducted by producer/musician Randy Scruggs; the late Merle Kilgore, inducted by booking agent Greg Oswald; and Hank Williams, Sr., inducted by industry executive Tim DuBois. Watch this space for the full story and more photos!

Created in the fall of 2006, the Music City Walk of Fame, on Nashville's Music Mile, is a landmark tribute to those from all genres of music who have made significant contributions to preserving the musical heritage of Nashville and have contributed to the world through song or other industry collaboration. With the induction of this new class of honorees, there will be 24 total stars along the Walk of Fame. A new brochure promoting the Walk of Fame is now available in Visitors Centers, hotels and venues across the city.

Permanent sidewalk medallions made of stainless steel and terrazzo, with each honoree's name displayed in a star-and-guitar design, will be installed in the sidewalk along the Music Mile. The plaques for this class of inductees will be inlaid in Hall of Fame Park on Demonbreun, between 4th and 5th Avenues South.

Nominations were open to the public and accepted in the categories of Artist, Musician, Songwriter, and Producer/Music Industry Executive. Application forms were reviewed by the Music City Walk of Fame anonymous selection committee.
